The New Orleans-based art duo Generic Art Solutions has spent a good amount of time examining the relationship between real life gun play and its' portrayal in entertainment media. Beginning with their title "Bullet Proof", the artists have bisected what would otherwise be an exclamation of inpenetrability in exchange for a strategic disassembly of Hollywood's codified and glorified fictions. For example, their "Motel Suite" is a series of 18 photographs taken in a New Orleans area motel where they have created a mysterious narrative involving two heavily armed men doing mundane things like eating chips, brushing their teeth, and cleaning their guns.

Gallery R (at The Russo Group)

116 E. Congress St. / 769-1530

This ArtWalk, Gallery R presents photography from Sonny Monteleone. Since the early 1970's, Monteleone's personal photography always centered on intimate forms of nature featuring the design element combined with a subtle light quality that captures the essence of the subject. Through the years, Monteleone is still inspired by this theory. Today, with the many new tools available, including digital capture, along with enhancements through computers software, Monteleone has merged the photographic and paint mediums new ways. Many of the photographs are printed on stretched canvas and embellished with acrylics or used with a watercolor filter, combined with printing on watercolor paper or canvas, which gives the photograph a 'painterly' quality. During ArtWalk, Monteleone will showcase his favorite subject: Scenic Louisiana, including swamps, lakes, streams, bayous, marshes, nature trails, or the Gulf of Mexico.
