The Kontinentals Car Club has been hosting the Lonestar Round Up since 2002 in Austin, Texas which attracts a huge number of vintage cars driving in from all over the country. Everyone has such a good time, they decided to throw another party in Louisiana in the fall that takes place at Blackham Collesium on Saturday, September 30th.
Continuing the tradition, Bayou Round-Up will be presenting our entertainment for DTA!
Friday presents one of the hottest Rock n Roll / R&B bands out of New Orleans, King James and the Special Men. Hot... Sweaty. Raw. Soulful. King James & The Special Men sound like New Orleans on wax, and they represent the Crescent City like no other. Rhythm & Blues ("Rock and Roll", as it's referred to outside of New Orleans) was born in "The City That Care Forgot" during the late 40's/early 50's in the years after WWII, and these indeed special men are doing everything possible and impossible to not only keep it alive, but make it strong, vibrant, and relevant to contemporary devourers of great music everywhere.
Before the concert, and right after work ends for our Downtown employees, DTA! hosts Lafayette’s Happiest Hour. This week’s DTA! Happiest Hour will feature specialty drinks by the Blue Moon Saloon from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. The party will continue after DTA! with an “After Party” which will begin at Blue Moon Saloon.
Downtown Alive! is a family-friendly event, and this season we’re making it even better. This week, DTAkids! will enjoy face-painting, balloon artists, and ice cream. The fun happens from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at the Lafayette Public Library - Main Branch.
To continue the new addition of DTA! Manger, patrons with an appetite can expect another lineup of local favorites. This week features delicious food vendors including the Acadian Superette and C'est Bon Manger Food Truck.
As a reminder – DTA! is funded through drink sales, so please leave your ice chests at home. Smoking and pets are not allowed to encourage a safe and family-friendly event for all.
