Fix It Cafe

Saturday, November 10th | 10:00 AM-1:00 PM

No Waste Lafayette in partnership with Deuxieme Vie Creative and Downtown Lafayette Unlimited will present a Fix It Café supported by Project Front Yard this Saturday!

Fixers will be available to assess and repair bikes, household goods, electronics, clothing, jewelry and furniture. We'll be fixing items at Deuxieme Vie Creative and spilling over into Parc de Lafayette just one storefront over.

“The Fix It Café is a great way to bring people together to learn about repairing items that would normally end up in the trash,” stated Skyra Rideaux, Project Front Yard Coordinator. “This is an opportunity to give these items a second life!”

The goals of the Fix It Cafe are to reduce waste, share knowledge about repairing, and strengthen community. Citizens are invited to stay, observe and work alongside volunteer fixers while enjoying the café set up with coffee provided by Reve and treats provided by No Waste Lafayette. The café aims to be zero waste – dishwashing, composting and recycling are all a part of the set up that speaks to the goal of waste reduction.

“No Waste Lafayette hosts these events to strengthen the fix it culture that already exists here in in our community,” said Catherine Comeaux, No Waste Lafayette founder. “I’ve met many talented fixers through these events – it’s such a joy to see them generate creative solutions for people who are interested in figuring out how to conserve resources and get full use out of their stuff.”

The café will be serving complimentary treats and Reve coffee - aiming to be low to no waste - so we welcome you to bring your own favorite coffee cup or enjoy a hot drink in one of ours.
