Neighborhood Summit - Day 1

October 19th | 5:00 PM-6:30 PM

Following recommendations from the Urban Land Institute’s Resiliency Panel in June of 2017, Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) will host a Neighborhood Summit October 19-20.

The summit is a collaboration between several LCG departments, with Community Development and Planning, Zoning, and Development taking the lead.

The summit will span two days and focus on sharing local government resources with individuals wishing to better their neighborhoods, as well as neighborhood groups. In addition, key initiatives that can assist neighborhoods will be highlighted. The summit will conclude with site visits to neighborhood projects to collect community input.

The summit will kick off with a panel discussion featuring the Lafayette Police Department, Community Development, and Planning, Zoning, and Development Departments on Thursday, October 19 at 5 p.m. at the Vermilion Conference Center at 326 Gauthier Road. The panelists will focus on the resources provided by their respective departments to neighborhoods and neighborhood residents. The panel discussion is being held at the Vermilion Conference Center in order to be nearby to the Lafayette Connector event held at Progressive Baptist Church.

“We have a lot of resources available to our neighborhoods and for people who are trying to make their neighborhoods stronger. This summit will help us all share ideas and resources with one another, and we hope that this will help deepen our relationships with neighborhood groups and our most engaged residents,” said Carlee Alm-LaBar, Director of the Planning, Zoning, and Development Department.

“The Neighborhood Summit is a unique opportunity for us to share information about upcoming projects and garner feedback from neighborhood residents to ensure that our efforts are aligned with the needs of the community,” said Dr. Shanea Nelson, Director of the Community Development Department.
