October Science on the Bayou: Two Takes on Information

October 17th | 7:00 PM-9:00 PM

Science on the Bayou stops by The Jefferson Street Pub for their monthly event to bring together Lafayette's science-minded citizens for night of exploration, fun, and beer.

Have you ever wondered why we don't seek information from the true experts - the wild animals perceiving and reacting to human or environmental disturbances - when building conservation and restoration strategies? Have you ever thought about how to find data on air quality in Lafayette, now that the internet of things is revolutionizing how we collect and share information?

Then join us on Tuesday, 17 October at The Jefferson Street Pub for two talks exploring how modern information can be used for a variety of purposes:

Dr. Guillaume Rieucau, Assistant Professor, Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON)

"Ask the locals: Using fish behavior as bioindicators in impact studies in coastal and estuarine ecosystems"

Dr. Brian Miles, Senior Consultant, CGI
"LEaRN: Lafayette Engagement and Research Network EPA Smart City Air Challenge"

As always, come at 6:30 for a happy hour drink and stick around for talks beginning at 7 pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
