Silverbacks Present: Lafayette Famous ft. Amanda Shackelford

Wednesday, March 21st | 7:30 PM-9:00 PM

Lafayette Famous features a mix of improvisation and storytelling. In this format, a local celebrity prepares 3 true stories from their life. The improvisers create scenes based on themes from the stories, bringing performers and audience alike on a humorous journey. On Wednesday, March 21, Silverbacks will feature LPSS Middle School Teacher of the Year, Amanda Shackelford!

Amanda Shackelford is in her 12th year of teaching in Lafayette Parish where she is currently teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts at Judice Middle School in Duson. Ms. Shack, as the students call her, was recently named the Lafayette Parish Middle School Teacher of the Year and has held the Teacher of the Year title at Lafayette Middle School in 2011 and and now twice at Judice Middle School. In her time away from school, she facilitates Murder Mystery Dinner Parties downtown at Esprit de Coeur and frequents community stages as she has appeared in such productions as Big Brothers Big Sisters’ annual Murder Mystery, Dream of the Marionettes at Cite des Arts, and the occasional role or dance with the Iberia Performing Arts League, including playing a murderess in their production of Chicago. She is also a provisional member of the Junior League of Lafayette and enjoys attending many community and cultural events with her dog, Bruce Wayne. Ms. Shack attributes much of her success as an educator due to her “middle-school sense of humor” and passion for helping children see and reach their own potential.
