Deep South Writers Series presents Kimberly Garza at CHB Lafayette!
CHB Lafayette and UL Lafayette’s Creative Writing department’s Deep South Writers Series along with support from Friends of the Humanities present Kimberly Garza for a reading and Q&A at 7:00pm on September 9!
Kimberly, a native Texan and an associate professor of English at the University of Texas at San Antonio, will read from and talk about her latest novels, The Last Karankawas (2022) and _Between You a River _(releasing December 2026).
The Last Karankawas is a blazing and kaleidoscopic debut about a tight-knit community of Mexican and Filipino American families on the Texas coast from a voice you won't soon forget.
Between You a River is a sweeping family saga set in Texas and the Philippines, following two sisters unearthing their mother's long-buried secrets. Pre-orders are now open for December release through the CHB website and Kimberly will be signing book plates that evening for them!

You can also order your copy of The Last Karankawas by 11:59 p.m. on September 8. The Last Karankawas will be available at the event, and you can preorder Between You a River!

FROM THE AIRPORT
After leaving the Lafayette Regional Airport, drive towards University Avenue to head into Downtown Lafayette by way of Johnston and then Jefferson Street.
FROM I-10
Take Exit 101 onto North University Avenue and follow the signs to Downtown Lafayette.
FROM Interstate-49
Interstate 49 becomes the Evangeline Thruway as you enter Lafayette. Take a right off of Evangeline Thruway onto Jefferson Boulevard.
FROM Highway 90
