We have finally gotten a taste of better weather over here in the Cajun capital, and it’s time to take advantage of it! Looking for things to do with your family this fall in Lafayette? Look no further, because downtown has you covered. From live music, indoor entertainment, to fun day trips that we know your family will love, we’ve got something for everyone. Whether you’re a Lafayette native or visiting from out of town, be sure to mark your calendars because there is a full lineup of activities to enjoy this season.
What’s going on in October…
Latin Music Festival
October 1st : Brought to you by the talented team that produces Festival International, the Asociación Cultural Latino-Acadiana’s annual Latin Fest offers authentic cuisine, local AND international Latin music, folkloric art, and activities for your kids to enjoy. Latin Fest is the cultural celebration in Parc International that you don’t want to miss! Tickets are available here.
Bach Lunch
October 7th & 14th : Acadiana’s favorite lunchtime concert series is back this fall! Enjoy FREE live music picnic-style with blankets, chairs, and grub from the food trucks at Parc Sans Souci.
ArtWalk
October 8th : The second Saturday of every month – rain or shine – you can head downtown to support local businesses, art vendors, and culture! The event showcases the creative side of Downtown Lafayette, and those who come to ArtWalk will leave inspired by our cultural district.
Festival Acadien et Creoles
October 14th-16th : Encompassing the entire full second weekend in October and just a short walk or bike-ride away from downtown in Girard Park, Festivals Acadien et Creoles has been showcasing Louisiana culture since 1974! Enjoy art exhibits, six stages of music, more than 60 bands, food, crafts, children’s activities, a French Mass, and more.
Gulf Brew
October 22nd : Gulf Brew features beer tap trucks, music stages, and craft booths all along Jefferson Street. Enjoy sampling more than 200 beers from craft breweries across the country! Tickets are available online or at walk-up.
Movies in the Parc
October 29th & November 12th : Movies in the Parc is downtown’s FREE outdoor movie series featuring cult classics and fun films that everyone loves. With loads of activities to enjoy before showtime and several snack vendors, Movies in the Parc is much more than your typical movie theater experience.
Lafayette Science Museum
Offering fun, hands-on experiences for curious minds of all ages, the Lafayette Science Museum is a great way to get your kids out of the house. Open from Thursday-Sunday, this museum is the perfect weekend activity.
Children’s Museum of Acadiana
The Children’s Museum of Acadiana is a family favorite downtown. Providing interactive and engaging exhibits, the CMA helps teach children cultural understanding, positive social interaction, and to celebrate diversity!
Rock ‘n’ Bowl de Lafayette
Do you like live music? Okay, what about bowling? Head on over to Rock ‘n’ Bowl de Lafayette to enjoy the best of both worlds! With live music going on all month long, this is a stop you want to make this fall.
